HUNDREDS of people are set to line the seafront as the clock strikes midnight tonight to raise money for a hospice - and fundraisers are reminded that they still have time to sign up.
Hartlepool & District Hospice is now just hours away from hosting its fifth annual Midnight Walk.
The event, which starts at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience, will see hundreds of kind-hearted charity champions lace up their trainers and walk more than five miles to Seaton Carew Golf Club and back.
The walk has proved extremely popular in the past and has helped to raise £224,000 for the Wells Avenue-based facility.
Organisers say it is one of their most enjoyable events on the calendar, and are urging people to join in with the fun and sign up now.
Greg Hildreth, events and community facilitator at the hospice, said: “The response has been very good so far and we are hoping lots more come along and register tonight.
“It’s a great event with a fantastic atmosphere and all of the hospice staff always really look forward to it.”
Walkers can also join in with the pre-midnight celebrations and enjoy performances from Freddie Mercury tribute act Billy West and Tessa Dollin.
Registration on the night costs £15.
Coverage from the event will feature in Monday’s Mail.
