THREE models added a touch of glamour at a college workshop for a photo-shoot.

Danielle Leighton, Abbey Smith and Kay Whitelock, all students at Hartlepool College of Further Education, struck a variety of poses for the camera in the college’s aerospace engineering hangar.

The trio posed in the workshop, which is usually filled with engineering pupils wearing oil-stained overalls, as part of a competition photo-shoot.

The contest itself will take place on Sunday, February 17, when Level 2 and 3 hairdressing students from the Stockton Street college are competing in the National Hairdressers’ Federation (NHF) Red Rose Championships, in Preston.

And one of the categories involves the submission of a photo for the front cover of a fashion magazine.

And that’s were Level 3 students and models Danielle, Abbey and Kay came into their own – thanks to the efforts of Level 3 hairdressing students Annette Wilkinson, Kirsty Rumble, Emma Storey, and Level 3 BTEC make-up for performers students Melissa Pasa and Allison Raw.

Together they designed three stunning looks for the models who were pictured by college photographer Gary Kester, who took a portfolio of shots in and around a Rolls-Royce engine, aeroplane and helicopter.

The Preston competition will consist of a variety of styling, from off-the-wall blow drying to cover girl and bridal styles.

Mandy Sisson, hairdressing course tutor, said: “We’re really delighted the girls are taking part in the competition and we wish them all the best of luck.

“They’ve all worked really hard.”
