PROUD college bosses have praised the dedication and commitment of students at an annual awards ceremony.

Hartlepool Sixth Form College, in the town’s Blakelock Road, held its annual awards bash last night with dozens of certificates and prizes handed out to hardworking students.

Awards and certificates were handed out to 103 students, with special awards for high achievers.

College principal Rick Wells said 2012 was a year in which the college achieved record growth and maintained its record of results.

He added: “We recorded an overall pass rate at A level of 99.6 per cent, the highest of any legally designated sixth form college in the area.

“We achieved outstanding value added results and were one of only two colleges in the country to have a 100 per cent student satisfaction response in the independent National Student Survey.

“These are remarkable achievements and they bear eloquent testimony to the ability and diligence of our students and their teachers.”

Mr Wells said every individual matters at the college and said they were also proud of the “outstanding” value-added results.

Guest of honour was James Fitzpatrick, a member of the Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club.
