POLICE say a man’s sudden death is not being treated as suspicious.

Detectives initially described the death of a 50-year-old man at an address in Campbell Road, Hartlepool, as “unexplained”.

They had been called to the terraced street in the Rossmere area of town at 12.45pm on Thursday, December 15, shortly after his body was discovered.

A post-mortem examination and further tests were carried out to help determine how he died.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “The death is not currently being treated as suspicious, but there are more inquiries to be carried out.”

Neighbours told the Mail of their shock at seeing police in their street as scenes of crime officers and detectives visited the house on Thursday and Friday.

Uniformed police officers also kept guard at the front gate of the property.

It is thought that the man who died had been lodging with a couple at the address.
