A CHARITY fundraiser has urged people to go red next month and support a national initiative.

The British Heart Foundation will be holding its Ramp Up The Red Day on Friday, February 7, and BHF town treasurer Alan Walker said: “We need groups, schools or individuals to take part and raise money.”

He urged people to hold a fancy dress party, use red dye make-up or hold a red-themed sports day. They could also hold a raffle with red prizes on offer, he added.

The BHF event is a fundraiser to support its work to help people with a heart condition – from babies born with life-threatening heart problems, to people who survive a heart attack.

But the event is not the only way to support the cause. A murder mystery night will be held by theHartlepool branch of the charity at the Historic Quay on Friday, February 28. The event starts at 7.15pm and tickets are £17 each, which includes a buffet and raffle.
