TALENTED cheerleaders flew the flag for Hartlepool by winning an incredible 58 trophies at a national event.
The youngsters who make up the Hartlepool Hawks cheerleading academy swooped to success in Blackpool at the annual International Championships.
The team won every single category they entered, and left the seaside resort with an impressive 15 national titles.
Children as young as four were joined by the more experienced Hawks aged up to 19 at the elite competition held at Norbreck Castle, in Blackpool.
A total of 45 competitors were joined by more than 50 supportive parents and coaches who made the trip to Blackpool.
And they made the trip back across to Hartlepool proudly showing off 58 trophies.
Head coach Rebecca Taylor said: “We never expected that we would be coming home with that many trophies.
“The standard was extremely high so for us to go there and perform so well was fantastic.”
Rebecca, 21, said all of the Hawks worked extremely hard in preparation for the event.
She added: “They were very proud of themselves and so they should be. To win 58 trophies at a national event is brilliant.”
The town cheerleaders excelled in a range of solo and team categories including pom, jazz and tumbling.
The excellent performances at Blackpool were another boost for the cheerleaders and coaches.
The club was only formed a little over a year ago but has already established itself on the national cheerleading scene.
It isn’t just on the floor where the members have been working hard.
In recent months the club has also set up a number of events raising money to fund new specialist equipment.
It was back to the practice gym for the Hawks after their performances in Blackpool.
More than 50 of the youngsters are now preparing for a trip to Swindon for a competition later this month.
