FUNDRAISERS gave their backing to two worthy causes.

Members of Hartlepool Round Table raised a glass to Hartlepool Lifeboat Station when they handed over a £500 cheque.

Round Table chairman Graeme Smith and members helped raise the sum at last year’s Hartlepool Beer Festival, held in the Borough Hall.

The sum was presented to Mike Craddy, lifeboat operations manager for Hartlepool RNLI, along with another £500 handed to Chris Grieveson, who is chairman of Hartlepool 41 Club.

Mr Smith said: “The money raised at our annual Beer Festival is split between local charities and we are always pleased to help the RNLI.”

Mr Craddy said: “The RNLI is totally reliant on voluntary donations and money like this is used to train our volunteer crew to help save lives at sea.

“We are very grateful for the support of Graeme and his committee.”
