DEVOTED carers took time out to enjoy a host of events including a tea dance as part of a national drive to promote the selfless work they do.
Carers Week has been running all week and it aims to put the spotlight on those kind-hearted people that give up their time caring for others.
In Hartlepool, staff at Hartlepool Carers Centre organised events including a tea dance at Avenue Tea Rooms and Function Suite, in Lauder Street.
Other events included a stress and resilience workshop, therapy sessions, music and songs from talented young carers and a drumming workshop.
There are around 1,200 adult carers and over 90 young carers registered with Hartlepool Carers.
But it is estimated that there are currently more than 10,000 people in town selflessly caring, which often affects their own health and wellbeing.
Karen Gibson, manager of Hartlepool Carers, said: “The week has been extremely positive and it has given the chance for carers to relax and speak to other carers in a similar situation.
“The feedback has been very positive.
“We are here all-year round to provide help and support to people.”
