PUB bosses are celebrating after their watering hole was named as Hartlepool’s favourite.
The Globe, on The Headland, has been voted the best bar of 2014 by Hartlepool Mail readers.
The Northgate pub picked up the prize after being nominated and securing the most votes from readers.
Owners Liz and Phillip Hall, who have run the pub for five years, are delighted about coming out on top.
Liz said: “It’s just absolutely marvellous to have won. We’re delighted. It was a lovely surprise.
“I think the great thing about our bar is that it’s traditional, it’s just a proper pub.
“There’s no food, no music, just a little bit of sport on the TVs, great beers at good, reasonable prices, and great customers.” The accolade comes as the couple will be celebrating 28 years in the business next month.
Liz added: “The building is a lovely one too and I think we’re the longest running publicans in the town. It’s a combination of everything that has won us this award and we’re just so happy to receive it. Our regulars are real characters and we’re really pleased that they voted for us.’’
