Their Laos is our gain

THEY’RE Poolies and they are proud of it.

That’s the message that these four Hartlepool people had when they travelled to Nam Yone village, in Laos.

Retired firefighter Peter Oliver is pictured with Trish, Gary and Neil Handisides alongside the two Lao girls who served them breakfast.

Our thanks go to them for helping to spread an important message – that Hartlepool is a place to be proud of.

Why not take your chance to show your passion about being a Poolie?

All we want you to do is pick up a copy of our new poster from the Hartlepool Mail reception or download it from our website at www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk It contains the slogan Proud To Be A Poolie.

Take it with you whenever you go on holiday or go away for a short break.

Have your photograph taken with the poster and send it to us so that we can publish it – and show that you have helped to spread the Hartlepool word.

Hartlepool Mayor Stuart Drummond was the first to back the campaign and said: “It is at times like this, in times of recession, that the best businesses make the most of marketing opportunities. It’s the same with tourism.

“Everyone needs to do their bit to remind the rest of the world that Hartlepool is still open for business.”

So come on readers. Get your copy of the brand new poster and get snapping.

Then send us the photographic evidence and we will do the rest.

Send your photos to the Mail newsdesk, Hartlepool Mail, New Clarence House, Wesley Square, Hartlepool, TS24 8BX, or log onto www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk

Then all you have to do is email them to mail.news@northeast-press.co.uk.

Let’s tell the world about the best town on the planet.
