A HOUSING firm has become the latest fantastic backer for the Hartlepool Mail sports awards.
In the wake of a glittering Commonwealth Games including a gold medal for local boxer Savannah Marshall, Housing Hartlepool is backing the town’s own sporting heroes by sponsoring the awards.
As a committed supporter of the community, Housing Hartlepool, part of the Thirteen Group, is helping the Mail search for superstars who are raising awareness about the importance of staying healthy and keeping fit.
Cath Purdy, deputy chief executive for Thirteen, the parent company of Housing Hartlepool, said: “The awards motto is “everyday people... outstanding talent” and we have known for years that Hartlepool is full of all kinds of heroes.
“Helping the Mail find its sporting stars is one way we can inspire people to look after themselves and aspire to a better lifestyle.
“It is always at the top of our list of priorities to create opportunities for the people of Hartlepool to make a positive change.
“We are proud to have invested a lot of time and money in the future of the town and are committed to doing that for many years to come.”
Housing Hartlepool has been helping shape the town for more than 10 years, and is currently behind the £2m refurbishment of Titan House, in York Road, to create a customer service complex, and the creation of accommodation for Cleveland College of Art and Design students, in Surtees Road, as well as a range of other investments in the town.
We’re delighted to have our latest backer on board and we’re hoping it inspires more people to enter the competition.
We want more nominations. We want to honour people from well-established names to those who rarely get the recognition they deserve.
But we can not do that unless you come forward with your favourites.
It could be a name we have all heard of or someone who has never made the headlines.
There’s plenty of time to put forward your sporting heroes before we announce the deadline for entries.
