ALMOST 50 members and friends of a popular friendship club enjoyed a trip to North Yorkshire.
Forty-nine members of the Fens Monday Club and guests went on a coach trip to Skipton where some enjoyed a boat trip on the canal.
It was the latest of a series of coach trips organised by the group after proving very popular with members and non-members.
The last one saw them enjoy a day at the seaside in Whitby.
For their most recent trip the party left from Fens Primary School and stopped off for coffee in Rippon.
Just after leaving they hit roadworks which meant they took a diversion via Harrogate and Ilkley before finally arriving in Skipton.
Steve Gibbon, Fens councillor and member of the Monday Club, said: “Although we arrived in Skipton a little later than we planned, we still had plenty of time for lunch and to spend time going round the market and local shops.
“A small group even managed to fit in a boat trip along the canal.
“I’m pleased to report in spite of the delays everyone agreed the trip had been a success and suggestions have already been put forward for our next trip.”
The Fens Monday Club was started to give people of all ages with some free time something to do around two years ago and quickly built up a healthy membership.
It meets at the Fens Heron Community Room at Fens Primary School in Mowbray Road every afternoon and members enjoy a range of social activities.
