IT IS getting tight at the top of this year’s Shop for Schools table.
Just over 100 points separate Hartlepool’s Ward Jackson and St Aidan’s schools in a yo-yo battle for the 2012 title.
But please remember that all 26 entrants will be winners come the final table.
The idea behind Shop for Schools, run by the town’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre in association with the Hartlepool Mail, is simple.
Take your shopping centre receipts to the complex’s information stand where they will converted into points at a rate of one point per pound spent.
This doubles to two points on Sundays and three on bank holidays.
Points are issued in the form of vouchers which can be immediately placed in letter-boxes marked with each entrant’s name.
The more points each school receives then the greater the amount of prizes they earn.
These gifts include books, computers and sports equipment.
Don’t worry, however, if your favourite school is smaller than others in the contest.
Scores will eventually be divided by pupil numbers to ensure that size does not unfairly count.
The competition runs until June 30 with bonus points vouchers appearing in the Mail every week until then.
Keep buying the Mail for this week’s cut-out token.
