PEOPLE do not have long to take advantage of a funding pot aimed at supporting community schemes.
Set to end in March this year, the Hartlepool New Deal for Communities (NDC) community chest scheme is currently offering individuals, groups and resident associations living in the area the last chance to apply for financial support when looking to access social or personal development activities.
Administered on NDC's behalf by Hartlepool Voluntary Development Agency (HVDA), the community chest grants scheme has supported a diverse range of social and personal development activities since 2001.
More than 400 grants have been awarded since the launch of the scheme with the aim to increase levels of activity, social cohesion and community spirit among local residents.
To be considered for a grant, residents must apply for the scheme by contacting HVDA no later than Thursday, January 20, with all applications entered into a decision-making process before being awarded.
The resident-led Hartlepool NDC is one of 39 similar initiatives across the country, each of which was awarded up to 54m of extra Government funding over a 10 year period.
The NDC area covers more than 4,000 households between Belle Vue and Hart Lane.
The community chest grant scheme is only available for individuals, groups and resident associations living in the NDC area and for more information or to apply for a grant, call Alison Barnes at HVDA on (01429) 262641.
