PEOPLE are being invited to join a picturesque walk as part of a long-running tradition.
The Greatham in Bloom committee is hosting its annual Snowdrop Afternoon from 1pm until 4pm tomorrow.
The event, held in the grounds of the village’s Hospital of God, usually attracts hundreds of visitors including people from as far away as York and Northumberland.
The afternoon is being held in conjunction with the trustees of the Hospital of God.
The walk will include a visit to the Georgian chapel and parish church and there will be talks giving an insight into seven centuries of the Hospital of God.
Entrance tickets will be available at Greatham Community Centre, in Front Street.
They cost £2 or £1 for concessions.
The walk will include a yellow trail around the snowdrops and people are advised to wear sensible shoes.
Dorothy Clark, chairman of the committee, said: “Hundreds of people come to see the snowdrops every year. “Some have told us it is the finest display of snowdrops they have ever seen. “Our gardeners have been planting for three weeks in advance of the event.
“There must be millions of snowdrops - it’s just wonderful.”
