TALENTED singers can perform in a weekly competition for the chance to take to the stage at a major town venue.

Members of the Headland Carnival Committee have organised a weekly Stars In Their Eyes-style contest with the finalists getting the chance to perform at the Headland Borough Hall.

The heats take place every Thursday night in the Headland Social Club, in Throston Street, Hartlepool, from 7pm.

The singing stars who impress members of the committee each week will then perform at the Borough Hall, on Saturday, July 23.

They will also win a £150 cash prize and get their own recording disc made.

Four talented performers have already booked their place in the final but a number of spots are still up for grabs.

John Cambridge, chairman of the Headland Carnival Committee, said: “The Headland Carnival is a fantastic event every single year.

“This competition gives people the chance to show off their singing skills every week and get the chance to perform in a fantastic venue, and the main thing is it’s all brilliant fun.

“We have had some great singers so far and I am looking forward to seeing the talented performers in the build up to the final.”

As well as the singing final the Miss Carnival contest will also take place at the Borough Hall on Saturday, July 23.

Admission to the Borough Hall for the event is £7 and doors open at 7pm.
