A PHARMACY has won a top industry accolade for its commitment to the local community.
Clayfields Pharmacy, in Oxford Road, Hartlepool, received an award for “Working with Others” at the first annual awards for the Tees Healthy Living Pharmacy (HLP) project.
Clayfields join Asda, in the town’s Marina Way and Boots, in One Life Hartlepool, in Park Road, as one of only three HLPs in Hartlepool.
After receiving the award from London 2012 Olympic swimmer Aimee Willmott, pharmacist Paul Pendergood, who was voted Hartlepool Pharmacist of the Year in 2012, said: “It’s great to gain recognition for the work we do to help our customers.
“We’ve worked hard to establish our pharmacy as a place people feel they can drop into and ask for and receive professional health advice.
“Whether it’s about alcohol, medicines, substance misuse, weight management, smoking or whatever else, we try to help – and if we can’t help directly then we always point people in the right direction by referring them to another service.
“The HLP project is only 12-months-old, but it’s already changing perceptions about community pharmacies among customers and health care professionals who perhaps didn’t realise the wide range of services we offer.”
