PROUD as punch Chelsea Lupton was full of praise after 14 of her students starred at a dance competition.
The rising stars from the Chelsea Lupton School of Dance tackled the Supreme Grand Prix Championships at the Blue Dolphin in Filey.
All of the youngsters from the Hartlepool school took an honour and Chelsea said: “They got 64 trophies between them. Most of them were for placings in the top three, and that’s against 400 kids from all over the country.”
Taylor Lupton and Casey Jo O’Donovan took top spot in both the under-8 slow pairs, and the under-8 fast pairs section. Anabelle Kaid was a winner in the under-10 solo section.
Nine students from the dance school were the top performers in the team section.
Chelsea said: “I thought they all did really well. They had to qualify to get through to the finals and they all won something. I am really proud.”
Next for Chelsea’s dancers is a dance championships at Flamingoland in two weeks. Chelsea said: “We will be taking 100 people down for that one, and that’s supporters as well as the students. I think the school is doing really well and the kids have come on loads since they started.”
Chelsea has a 60-strong membership and her students range from two years old to 25.
Anyone interested in joining the team should come along to sessions, in the Victoria Buildings on the Headland, from 4.30pm to 6pm on Mondays or Thursdays.
