USERS of a Facebook group dedicated to all things Hartlepool past and present joined together to support the town’s hospice.
Members of the Town of Hartlepool Facebook group contributed a collection of images and videos from the town from modern day and years gone by.
They were all put together to create a double DVD set, a two-hour showcase including a history of all areas of the town.
The DVDs are on sale now and the group’s founder, Derrick Rowbotham, asked members which charity they would like the proceeds of the sales to go to and more than 70 per cent of users voted for Hartlepool & District Hospice.
Derrick said: “This has been a team effort and we are already receiving requests for the DVDs.
Each DVD set will sell for £9, of which £4 will be donated to the hospice.”
Hospice fundraiser Janice Forbes said: “This is a lovely idea and a great way of raising funds for the hospice.
“We rely heavily on the generosity of the local communities to help raise the funds we need to ensure the hospice can continue to care for our patients and their families.
“The support we receive from the people of Hartlepool and East Durham surprises me every day and I would like to say thank you on behalf of patients, staff and volunteers.”
The DVD can be bought from the Facebook page, Hartlepool & District Hospice reception and the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre hospice shop.
