FIRE chiefs have given more families vital home safety advice after a house blaze in Hartlepool claimed a young man’s life.
Officers have carried out a series of free home fire safety visits on the town’s Clavering estate.
It comes after 20-year-old Craig Westhorp died in a tragic house fire on the estate’s Formby Close two weeks ago.
The devastating fire quickly spread through the family home after a chip pan was left on the cooker.
Hartlepool firefighters are stressing how important it is to have working smoke alarms and to have an action plan in place in case the worst happens.
They are encouraging everyone to take advantage of the service’s free home fire safety visits.
