Tragic pedestrian is named

POLICE have named the pedestrian who died after being in a collision with a car on Christmas Eve as Alan Dunn.

The 67-year-old, of Cotsford Crescent, Horden, was involved in a collision with a grey Nissan Micra around 8am on Monday on the village’s A1086 Sunderland Road.

The air ambulance attended but Mr Dunn was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.

The driver of the Micra, a 19-year-old woman from Peterlee, was shocked but unhurt.

Anyone who saw the incident or the actions of Mr Dunn immediately prior to the collision is urged to contact Durham Police’s accident investigation unit on (0191) 3752159 or Durham Police on 101.
