Swimmers rescued by lifeboat

A LIFEBOAT crew helped two swimmers to the shore after reports they had got into difficulties.

Hartlepool RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was called to Seaton Carew as a man and a woman were said to be in trouble among the waves at 6.15pm yesterday.

A spokesman for the service said: “As a precaution, and due to the heavy swell, they were brought back to the lifeboat station.”

HM Coastguard took the pair back to Seaton Carew from the Ferry Road station.
