A teenager was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car in Hartlepool.

The Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA) was called to the Owton Manor area at 1.51pm after the teenager was struck by a car.

She suffered a serious head injury and was anaesthetised at the scene by the GNAAS aircrew.

She was flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough in just four minutes.

She arrived in a critical, but stable condition.
