THESE are the first pictures released of the soldier and his girlfriend who were killed in a horror road smash.
Lance Bombardier Jamie Hall, 23, proudly poses in his Army uniform with a rifle, while pretty Michelle Swinton, 22, mum to a four-year-old, smiles for the camera.
The young couple died when a silver Seat Ibiza they were travelling in left the carriageway on the A1086 Coast Road at Blackhall Rocks.
Jamie, a soldier with the 4th Regiment of the Royal Artillery, based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, had previously served in Afghanistan, as reported in yesterday’s Mail.
Today Army chiefs paid tribute to “promising” LBdr Hall, who previously attended Blackhall Colliery Primary School.
Lieutenant Colonel Chris Squier, commanding officer of the regiment, said: “The regiment is deeply saddened by this tragic incident.
“Lance Bombardier Hall had served in Afghanistan in 2007 and, as a promising junior non-commissioned officer, he had recently been selected to attend a career course in communications.
“Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family, his brothers and sister and to the family of his girlfriend Michelle.”
