Two cut free after crash

TWO people had to be cut free from cars after a crash on a junction between two villages.

The smash happened on the crossroads between Wheatley Hill and Thornley at 4.15pm yesterday.

Two crews from Peterlee Fire Station were called to the site by police to cut free a man and a woman who were trapped in the vehicles.

The man was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, and the woman was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham in Durham City.
