A POLICE force has said goodbye to a “brave, loyal and trusting” horse that went on the beat for 15 years.
Blue, a 22-year-old grey Irish draught thoroughbred cross, died on Thursday, January 5, after a short illness.
He had been in semi-retirement for the last year after attending hundreds of incidents during his career with Cleveland Police.
Sergeant Paul Johnson, from the force’s mounted section that is based at Ormesby Hall, in Middlesbrough, said: “Blue was an excellent police horse. He was brave, loyal and trusting and he loved his job.
“He will be missed by everyone here at the stables, including the other horses.”
The 16 hands and 3in tall horse regularly attended remembrance day parades and football games.
