EMOTIONAL tributes have been paid to a long-standing Hartlepool councillor who died after a short battle with cancer.
Liberal Democrat councillor Bob Flintoff, who served the Fens and Owton areas on Hartlepool Borough Council for more than 20 years, has been described as a “true gentleman”.
The dad-of-one, who lived in the town’s Campbell Road, passed away yesterday lunchtime at Hartlepool and District Hospice.
Coun Flintoff was diagnosed with cancer in February and had spent the past three weeks at the hospice.
Family members and civic dignitaries have paid tribute to the 83-year-old, who leaves behind his wife, Kathleen, and son Peter Flintoff, 56.
