THREE charitable pub staff members are gearing up for a triple sporting challenge.
Jackson’s Wharf landlord Jeff Potter, 35, assistant manager Scott Reynolds, 25, and bar worker Rob Goldsmith, 20, are preparing to take part in the Marina Triathalon in September.
And any money the trio rake in through sponsorship and donations is going to be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The kind–hearted workers picked the charity as a member of Rob’s family suffers from the disease and they want to help fund research into the condition.
So, over the forthcoming weeks they will have their work cut out in training for the event which they will perform as a relay.
Rob, from the Raby Road area of Hartlepool, will be taking part in a 750-metre swim in the waters of Hartlepool Marina, while dad-of-one Scott, from Clavering, has put himself forward for a 20km cycle ride.
Jeff, who has just recently taken over the running of the pub after moving from Wales, is to put himself through a 5km run for the cause.
Rob said: “We’re taking part in the Marina Triathalon to raise money for the MS Society.
“A member of my family suffers with MS so it just seemed the most appropriate charity to do it for.
“We’re about to start our training regime very soon and we’re going to be doing it individually.
“But obviously when it comes to the time of the event then we’ll be doing it as a team.”
He added: “We’re hoping to get as many sponsors as possible so we can raise as much money as possible for this very worthy cause.
“We’re all very excited, we can’t wait to get on with it and do it.
“There’s a lot of training ahead but I’m sure we’ll all encourage each other.
“We’ve got two months to get in shape, I just hope that’s long enough!”
