THERE is a further chance for people in Hartlepool to try Nordic walking.
The Scandinavian fitness technique uses walking poles and can burn off up to 47 per cent more calories than normal walking.
It is so popular that Hartlepool Borough Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Team has organised another six-week course as part of the Walk About In Hartlepool scheme.
It’s being held on Tuesdays from March 12 to April 16 from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
Sessions will take place at a number of different locations around the borough over the course of the programme.
It costs a total of just £15 per person, advance booking is essential and places are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
Rachael Pringle, the Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Officer, said: “Interest in Nordic Walking just keeps growing in Hartlepool – people love it because it’s so easy to learn and doesn’t require expensive clothing or equipment.
“It’s great exercise for people of all ages because the walking poles help propel you along at a faster pace than normal walking without you feeling the effort.”
