Hartlepool will be turned into a sea of colour when a 5k run with a difference is held.

The town’s first Colour Run will be held by Hartlepool & District Hospice on Saturday, August 22.

As with all of our events, everything raised at the Colour Run will be used to fund the specialist care services we provide free of charge to patients and families from the local communities of Hartlepool & East Durham affected by incurable illnesses

The Colour Run is a new addition to the Hospice’s fundraising events calendar and organisers are expecting a huge turnout for a sponsored family fun run with a difference.

Everyone who takes part will be blasted with multi-coloured powdered paint as they make their way along the picturesque seafront route at Seaton Carew.

Organisers say they expect the event to be lively and it is open to people of all ages and abilities.

Families are being encouraged to come along and join in the fun.

The activities start from 10am when DJ Kevin King will be warming up the crowd until the start of the race.

Then, the run will start at the old Coach Park, at Seaton Carew, at 11am.

Entrants will all join together at the start, throwing the contents of their paint packets into the air to pour down on the crowd. Along the route there will be four paint stations, where participants will be showered in paint.

Janice Forbes, the hospice’s community fundraiser, said: “We are all really looking forward to this new exciting fun event.

“It is fantastic to have local firms Readhead Associates, Fire97, Focus Cladding and Tangent sponsoring the paint stations.

“As with all of our events, everything raised at the Colour Run will be used to fund the specialist care services we provide free of charge to patients and families from the local communities of Hartlepool & East Durham affected by incurable illnesses.”

Registration, which includes a white T-shirt, a packet of paint powder and refreshments, is £10 for adults and £7.50 for anyone aged under 16.

A hospice official said: “So come along and join us.”
