DRAGON’S den star Duncan Bannatyne has put his luxury home in Wynyard up for sale in a bid to begin a new chapter in his life.

With an £875,000 price tag, prospective buyers will have the chance of a five-bedroom house overlooking the exclusive estate’s golf course.

But while he says he “has the best neighbours anyone could ask for”, he believes it is now time for him to move on from his home on the Wynyard Estate, on the outskirts of Hartlepool.

He said: “I decided to sell as I am looking to start a new chapter in my life.

“I am undecided at this time as to whether I will purchase another house in Wynyard or whether I will move out of Wynyard.

“I think I will probably move out of Wynyard, but will make that decision as and when I need to.”

The move comes following a tough period in the 64-year-old businessman’s life.

Last October he was rushed to hospital following a heart scare.

He was kept in overnight but not found to have suffered a heart attack.

He has also gone through a divorce with his wife Joanne and has seen his estimated wealth fall from £430m in 2011 to £85m last year.

His current home is an architect-designed property which includes a games room and a spectacular open-plan kitchen with full windows that Duncan describes as his favourite room in the house.

He said: “It is modern living at its easiest with beautiful views of the golf course.

“It is a very relaxing house to live in, although it is also a very fun house and I have hosted great parties in it.

“I love spending my time in the kitchen, I have a huge sofa in the kitchen, where I can kick off my shoes watch TV, cook or simply watch what’s happening on the golf course, and it is a fabulous area and definitely my favourite part of the house.”

Inside, the entrance hall has a double height glazed apex at the front.

There’s a study/TV room, a 19ft lounge which has double doors leading out to the garden and a family/games room as well as the kitchen.

Upstairs there’s a family sitting room with more views of the golf course and the lake.

Five bedrooms follow, the master suite has a vaulted ceiling and a luxury en-suite bathroom with a double whirlpool style bath and a double shower boasting side jets as well as a dressing room.

“The best thing about living in this house is the peace and quiet.

“There is no hustle and bustle; when you have had hard day at the office you can come home and relax but equally should you want company you can always drop in on a neighbour for a coffee and catch up,” adds Duncan.

“Living in Wynyard is great. I have the best neighbours anyone can ask for and there is a real community spirit going on.

“The best thing about Wynyard is the people who live there.”
