A WOMAN was treated for wounds and a man suffered head injuries after four people were involved in a street fight in broad daylight.
Police were called to a “large disturbance” in Stephen Street, Hartlepool, at around 5pm yesterday.
Officers say they believe weapons were used during the incident and one woman is thought to have been slashed.
She was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton as well as a man who suffered head injuries.
Four people were arrested last night and were being questioned but police are now appealing for any witnesses of the incident to come forward.
Acting Inspector Gary Cowan, of Hartlepool Police, said: “At around 5pm we were called to a large disturbance in Stephen Street, four people were fighting in the street.
“It is believed weapons were used and two people were left with injuries.
“A woman was treated for wounds and a man suffered head injuries.”
Police say the two injured parties both discharged themselves from hospital shortly after the incident.
Two men, aged 20 and 25, and two women, aged 22 and 28, were all arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons and affray.
