A DANCE crew which has only been together for four months has qualified to compete in a world championships.
Roc Boyz, from the Urban Rockz studio run by Zac Healey in Whitby Street South, in Hartlepool, came third in the junior crew section of the idance UK Hip Hop Championships.
Their success at the competition, at Mile End in London, means they have qualified for the world hiphop championships in Las Vegas.
It’s the same competition in which Zac, and his fellow members of Ruff Diamond, came 16th in the World Championships last year. Now Zac is hoping for great things for the crew he has mentored.
He said: “These guys have been together since November and they have worked together really well.”
He said the plan was to keep them progressing as a crew and making sure they enter more competitions.
Roc Boyz were one of four crews from Hartlepool which competed at the idance event. Even though the others - Rocafellas, Heist and Outlawz - missed out on top three spots, Zac was full of praise for them as well.
“They were all dancing in their respective crews for the first time and they all looked really good,” added Zac.
Roc Boyz have now qualified to compete at the world event at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas from August 10.
Zac said a meeting would be held to discuss the possibility of the crew going to the USA and the finances it would take.
