Verbal attacks on woman

POLICE are appealing for witnesses or any information after a vulnerable woman was a victim of two incidents in one day.

The 24-year-old woman with learning difficulties reported being verbally abused by two young men who both kicked at the wheel of her bike in Oxford Road, Hartlepool, at around 3.40pm on April 2.

The same woman was walking in the town’s Sheriff Street at around 8.15pm on the same day when she was verbally abused and had a can of lager thrown at her.

The suspect is described as a white woman aged in her 40s, of slim build with blonde hair and wearing a white jacket.

PC Stephanie Button, of Hartlepool Police, said: “No-one should have to be a victim at any time, but for this woman to go through two ordeals in one day is awful.

“I would urge anyone with any information to contact police so that we can bring the despicable people who carried out these crimes to justice.”

Any witnesses, or anyone with any information, is asked to contact PC Button on (01642) 302178 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
