THESE veterans had a double reason to celebrate after joining our Proud to be a Poolie campaign while also paying their respects at a remembrance service.

Members of the Hartlepool Branch of the Royal Artillery Association attended the service at Eden Camp in North Yorkshire last month.

The event attracted 117 standards from all over the country and more than 2,000 veterans.

The Hartlepool branch members used the event to show how proud they are of their town and took one of our Proud to be a Poolie posters with them.

Pictured with the poster is assistant parade marshall Derek Wilson, with Ann Mahony, Women’s Royal Army Corps standard bearer on the left and Harry Hardy, chairman of the Hartlepool Branch of the Royal Artillery Association and Tug Wilson, parade marshall.

The second picture shows Mr Hardy leading the standards during the march past at the event.

Our thanks go to them for backing our Poolie campaign.

Why not take your chance to show your passion about your town?

All we want you to do is pick up a copy of our poster from the Hartlepool Mail reception or download it from our website at www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk It contains the slogan Proud To Be A Poolie.

Take it with you whenever you go on holiday or go away for a short break.
