A STRIKE by firefighters in a dispute over pensions passed off without incident.
Firefighters in Hartlepool staged another walkout for four hours on Wednesday as part of the national action.
But Cleveland Fire Brigade said there were no incidents in the brigade area during the action between 10am and 2pm.
Around 20 Fire Brigades Union (FBU) members took part in the industrial action on at Stranton Fire Station in Hartlepool.
Auxiliary cover from trained volunteers and non-union members was put in place by brigade chiefs.
Neil Sowden, the station’s FBU branch secretary, said: “The support from the public has been excellent on the whole. A lot of drivers have been tooting their horns.
“I think everybody feels as though the Government are trying to have a go at everybody and there is a feeling of sticking together.”
