A GRANDMOTHER is celebrating a near £67,000 win on an online bingo site. So we asked people in Hartlepool what they would do with a similar win.
Karen Smith, 42, who is unemployed and lives in the Belle Vue area, said: “The first thing I would do is go on holiday to Benidorm in Spain, and then I’d look at buying a new house. But I wouldn’t buy a car because I don’t fancy driving. But I would like a nice holiday and a nice home.”
Stella Tinkler, 76, a retired shop worker from Park Road, said: “I’d like to buy a bungalow but I wouldn’t get one for that much so it would be family first. There’s not many of us so everyone would get something and then we’d all have a treat. I’d treat myself to a little electric scooter to help me get around.”
James Callaghan, a 21-year old student from Belle Vue, said: “I’d pay off my student loan and put money aside for my baby son so he could go to university when the time comes and not have to worry about fees. Then I’d probably buy a car and treat my partner and son to a nice holiday in France.”
Alex McMullen, 43, who doesn’t work because of disability and lives in the Murray Street area, said: “I’d go on holiday to New York and go on a shopping spree. Then I’d get a wheelchair made for me and treat myself to some jewellery. I’d also bank some because you never know what the future may hold.”
