IT was no trying time for youngsters as they had a taste of fun on the touchline.
Scores of youngsters took part in rugby taster sessions at Hartlepool Rovers’ ground, in the town’s West View Road.
During two days of fun activities held over the half-term holidays, more than 60 children enjoyed getting to grips with rugby-based skills, including learning how to tackle.
Fully-qualified coaches led the way in the action-packed sessions, which were free to take part in.
The kids were aged from as young as four years old, up to 12 years old and bosses at the club say they have spotted some youngsters who want to continue with their new-found techniques.
Darren Smith, a coach with the Under-15s team at Rovers, helped to run the sessions and said they proved to be a huge success.
He said: “The sessions went really well, with over 60 kids over the two days.
“We had mainly four to 12-year-olds playing tag rugby.
“We had a mixture of girls and boys, and lots have said they would come back again to our sessions on Sundays and keep trying it.”
