MUSICAL youngsters hit all the right notes when they produced and recorded their very own school anthem which has since become an internet hit.
Reach High at Rossmere has been written, produced and performed by creative children at Rossmere Primary School, in Catcote Road, and so far almost 1,000 people have viewed the song online.
The words and music were written by different groups of children based on their experiences of life at the Hartlepool school with youngsters voting on what should be included.
A total of 150 ideas were put forward around the themes of learning, having fun, teamwork and being friendly.
Those ideas were then crafted into the school’s new anthem.
Proud staff say they were keen for everyone to have an input and the title Reach High is the school’s motto and the central theme throughout the song.
Children spent time with visiting song writer in the autumn term to write and record their own song, which was then performed by the whole school and uploaded on to YouTube.
The video has so far had 993 hits and school staff are hoping to break the landmark 1,000 barrier soon.
Lynne Pawley, headteacher at the school, said: “The children, staff, governors and parents are delighted with the school song which was first sung at the school’s carol services at Christmas.
“A video of the making of the song has been compiled and put onto YouTube and so far there has been over 900 hits.
“The school is hoping to beat the one thousand mark soon.”
