PUPILS were rewarded for their hard work at a school’s annual awards ceremony.
English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College in Hartlepool held it awards ceremony where a string of accolades were handed to students past and present.
World Champion boxer Savannah Marshall, who left English Martyrs in 2007 with 12 GCSEs returned to the school as a special guest and was also given the Chairman’s Award.
There were two new awards added to the ceremony this year, the Stuart Whincup Award in recognition of excellence by a student who has joined our Sixth Form from another institution, which was won by Caitlin Hainsworth from High Tunstall School who achieved three As and two Bs in her As levels.
The Sister Philomena Trophy was also new and awarded in honour of the many years service the Sister gave to the people of Hartlepool. It was awarded to talented young musician Josh Chapman.

The Governors’ Salver: Myles Tyzak Carlin.
The John Bell Cup: Alex Craig.
