Hartlepool cancer charity Miles for Men has been handed a major boost by the town’s Vodafone store.

The store has donated £1,000 from its community fund to help the charity’s work.

Hartlepool folk always come together as one, as shown in recent events in the town, and the support we have had from businesses is fantastic.

Kevin Hill

Miles for Men promotions manager Kevin Hill visited the store with charity members Michelle Shield and John Packham to collect the cheque from manager Stephen Davis, who nominated the group after reading about its work with young cancer patients.

“It’s great to hear that a locally-based charity is doing so well after only being founded in 2012,” he said.

“So far, Miles for Men has raised in the region of £170,000, of which £130,000 has been donated to cancer research, and the charity continues to help families across the region who have suffered in some way or other with cancer.”

Kevin Hill said backing from local businesses and the public was critical to continuing the Miles For Men’s work. The support is really important and keeps the charity going,” he said.

“Hartlepool folk always come together as one, as shown in recent events in the town, and the support we have had from businesses is fantastic.

“It’s all down to the commitment of the team at Miles for Men, who work so hard behind the scenes to bring funding in.

“We would just like to say a massive thank you to Steve and the staff at Vodafone Hartlepool for their donation, which will go towards helping youngsters in the town.”
