HARTLEPOOL’S first ever volleyball club is looking to attract new players following its recent launch.

Hartlepool Volleyball Club regularly attracts up to 18 players, but is keen to boost its ranks.

The club, which caters for players of all abilities, is aimed at people aged 14 and over and meets on Thursdays from 5.30pm-7pm at Hartlepool Sixth Form College, in Blakelock Road.

Gemma Ptak, senior sport and physical activity co-ordinator with Hartlepool Borough Council, said: “We are delighted with the way it has taken off since being formed towards the end of last year and we now have a core group of players covering a wide range of ages.

“However, we are keen to build on our progress and recruit more people to take the club forward.

“Whether someone is looking to get back into the sport or wants to try it for the first time, we’d like to hear from them..”

Potential players can simply turn up at one of the weekly sessions, or if they require further information they should telephone Gemma on (01429) 284047 or email Hartlepoolvolleyball@gmail.com
