An award-winning company is using a prize to help a Hartlepool football team look like champions.

One lucky side will be kitted out in a new strip thanks to the town’s branch of Specsavers.

The company’s branch, which is in the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, has teamed up with the Hartlepool Mail.

Jointly, we are running a competition for one team to win a new strip, which will be in a colour of its choosing.

Today, the call goes out for all teams in the area to consider putting themselves in the running.

The town’s Specsavers branch is a winner itself. It won the community section of this year’s Hartlepool Business Awards, in a year when it supplied hi-visibility vests for local schoolchildren to help keep them safe on their way to and from school, and when on trips.

It is using part of the prize to supply the new strips for the winning entry in the competition, and store director Ian Walker, said: “It is about celebrating teamwork, which is always a good thing.

“We want to contribute to team sports in the Hartlepool community and feel that this is a great way to do it.”

All we need now is lots of entries from teams interested in winning a new football strip. To enter, send a letter on why you deserve to pick up this fantastic prize – in the colour of your choice.

Our competition is open to any team within the Hartlepool Mail circulation area.

To enter, simply send us your letter including your name, telephone number and email address, as well as detail about the team you represent.

Email your entries to chris.cordner@jpress.co.uk by Monday, November 16.
