Warehouse fire ‘arson’

ARSONISTS are being blamed for starting a fire inside a disused warehouse.

Crews from Stranton Fire Station were called to the concrete building, off Slake Terrace, near Middleton beach, in Hartlepool, at 11.55pm on Saturday.

Fire chiefs say there was a lot of smoke caused by the fire at the 90ft-long empty building.

No-one was injured in the fire, which is believed to have been started deliberately.

Just hours later crews were called after a pile of rubbish was set on fire in a street.

Firefighters were called to Rydal Street, Hartlepool, at 1am on Sunday.

The small rubbish fire, which was started deliberately, was out by the time crews arrived.
