Dozens of musical children turned to song to help raise money for Children in Need.
The students of the MTA academy, in Park Road, Hartlepool, did Pudsey proud when they went into a studio and recorded a CD for charity. Their version of You’ve Got A Friend saw an original run of 50 CDs produced but they sold out and now more than 100 have been snapped up.
More than £300 has already been raised for Children in Need with copies still available.
Proud MTA owner Toni Parker-Harvey said: “We just wanted to raise as much money as possible but the children had a great time doing it as well.
“Whatever we get, I will round it up to the next £100.”
The day in the recording studio saw a chorus of 45 students recording their parts on the CD. Then, nine soloists did their bit and Toni added: “It took us just under two hours.
We decided on recording a song as we wanted to do something different. We have done a sponsored dance and a sponsored silence before but we decided to record a song this timeToni Parker-Harvey
“They all got a chance to go into a recording studio and it was a great experience for them.”
Toni chose the track that the children sang as McFly is one of her favourite bands.
After the CD was produced, the cases were sponsored by Hartlepool-based company Ords.
Toni added: “Originally, we wanted 50 copies but we have now sold more than 100 and we are still having to have more burned and more printed because of the demand for them.
