FAMILIES soaked up the sun during two-days of fun organised to raise vital funds to help save lives at sea.

Hartlepool RNLI laid on a weekend of fun activities at Hartlepool Marina including fairground rides, street dance displays from KT Dance School, vintage Army trucks, giant kites, face-painting, Punch and Judy and water displays including jet skis, Thundercat boats and sailboards.

There was also music from the Red Dreams charity and Mum’s The Word choir.

Hartlepool RNLI operations manager Mike Craddy thanked marina staff and funfair owners and said: “The weekend went down well. We had a great crowd and good turnout.”

Other weekend fun included a BMX event at Summerhill outdoor country park and a fun day at Ward Jackson Park.
