A SELL-OUT ball organised by a popular drama group is taking place tonight.
Members of Hartlepool’s Roaring Mouse Drama Group are all excited about their winter ball, - which will have a festive feel to it. It is to be held at the Grand Hotel, in Swainson Street, from 7pm until 11pm.
The group, plus their families and friends and members of the public, will be donning their glad-rags for the event, with the ladies in their ballgown best and the fellas in their smartest suits, ties and dicky bows.
The party-goers will enjoy a three-course Christmas meal of soup, turkey and festive pudding for dessert, and will be provided with entertainment for the evening by 60s band The Valentines.
One of the organisers, Janet Wilson, said everyone at Roaring Mouse was excited and there had been a buzz around the group, with the women discussing what they will be wearing and who is and isn’t going.
She told the Hartlepool Mail: “Everybody is really excited and hyped up for the winter ball.
“It’s been a sell-out so we can’t wait for the atmosphere and seeing everyone in their lovely dresses and suits.
“It’ll be a grand event and it’s going to have a Christmas feel to it with the Christmas meal and I think we’re even going to have a Christmas tree up.”
Janet, from Roaring Mouse, which provides drama activities, workshops and skill development for adults with learning disabilities, said the organisation was initially worried that the event could flop and only a fraction of the tickets sell.
But within a few days the 110 tickets on offer were snapped up.
She said: “We were panicking a bit when we first put the tickets up for sale that we might not sell them all but very quickly they all went.
“We can’t wait!”
