The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for fog for tomorrow (Saturday, October 3).
Motorists in the North East of England will have to take care tomorrow morning with a yellow warning for fog issued by the Met Office.
Its forecast for the region states that patchy fog is expected throughout the early hours of Saturday, becoming more widespread as the morning goes on.
Visibility will fall below 100 metres in place, meaning that driving conditions will become difficult. The fog is expected to thin out and clear later in the morning.
The forecast added: “A ridge of high pressure across much of the UK will lead to clear skies and light winds overnight, a recipe for areas of locally thick fog to develop, which will take until late morning on Saturday to clear in some places.”
Durham, Hartlepool, Northumberland, Sunderland and South Tyneside are all in the yellow affected areas, as well as Gateshead, Middlesborough and Newcastle upon Tyne.
Currently, the weather warning is expected to run until 11am tomorrow.
