DOZENS of people welcomed in the Year of the Rabbit with a feast of food and colourful decorations.
Around 50 people went along to the Lynnfield Centre, off Elcho Street in Hartlepool, for a Chinese New Year party.
It was hosted by the Hartlepool Chinese Association, which aims to improve the health, education and social life not just of Chinese people but of the wider community.
People who attended the celebrations, which included children as well as adults, got to tuck into delicious Chinese treats.
These included ribs in fruity hot sauce, garlic chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, pork dumplings and coconut parcels.
Children also had fun forming a team and standing under a Chinese dragon and making it dance.
The centre was also decorated with pretty red lanterns and paper designs.
Hartlepool Chinese Association has 47 members and its chairman is Sandra Chow.
The group was formed in May last year with the help of Hartlepool Voluntary Development Agency (HVDA).
Chinese New Year celebrations began on February 3, and are due to end on February 18.
