HERE is another chance to catch up with the action from the weekend’s Headland Carnival events.
Yesterday’s planned sandcastle competition at Fish Sands had to be cancelled at short notice due to the rain and dull weather.
But those grey skies were nowhere to be seen over the weekend as hundreds of families enjoyed the first full weekend of carnival activities.
From fast asleep children barely months old, to four and five years olds dressed up as their favourite characters, Headland Social Club was full of adorable kids for the Bonny Baby contest on Saturday.
And from there it was on to the Town Square on Sunday for the popular and well-attended fun day.
If they weren’t being wowed by dancers and cheerleaders or taking the opportunity to meet their favourite film and cartoon characters, then the children were taking part in crafts activities or rushing to the bouncy castle or the rides on offer.
And despite the postponement of the sandcastle competition, the carnival committee are hoping yesterday’s weather was just a minor blip and the weekend’s sunshine comes back for the rest of the events.
A committee spokesman said: “It was a fantastic weekend, everyone seemed to have a brilliant time which is what we want to see.
“The only bad weather forecast was for Monday so hopefully everything will run smoothly for the rest of the week.”
The family treasure dig was due to take place at Fish Sands from 10am-noon today.
Tomorrow, kids can show off on stage at the children’s talent competition at Headland Social Club, in Throston Street, from 1.30pm-5pm.
Entry is free.
